LANAP is an acronym for laser assisted new attachment procedure and it’s a newer treatment for gum disease. Instead of cutting away diseased gum tissue and sewing the gums, LANAP specifically targets only infected tissue and the bacteria without doing any harm to the healthy tissue. LANAP is a preferred treatment for receding gums and gum disease for a number of reasons, including:

  • Laser gum treatment is much more comfortable.
  • The cost is less than traditional cutting and suturing.
  • The majority of patients heal and are back to normal within 24 hours.
  • The Periolase used in LANAP helps the cells to heal quicker.
  • There is a longer lasting result and a 98% success rate after 5 years.

Dr. Hood is one of a very small number of dental professionals that is certified and licensed to perform LANAP and Periolase to treat gum disease. His extensive dental experience ensures you get specialized and precise care that is both gentle and effective.

Laser Gum Treatment for Gum Recession

When you have gum disease that is fairly advanced, it can be scary discovering the extent of the disease. Undiagnosed periodontitis is a common problem, but modern technology has come a long way in treating gum recession and gum disease. When you get laser surgery, we numb your gums and use a precise laser to painlessly and gently treat your gums. You will notice improvements in your gums shortly after treatment. Additionally, treating infected gums will prevent potential tooth loss and bone loss, and this will significantly improve your overall oral health.
